The following copper piece is believed to have been struck outside the Mint by Montroville Dickeson from mint dies which were sold as scrap sometime in the 1860s.

This particular example combines the central quarter reverse device as used on the 1823/2 quarter with with the infamous 1792 eagle on a full shield design used on JC1792-3/P6015.

The illustrated piece was offered on Ebay in July 2007. It is believed to be the piece originally described as lot 50 in Haseltine's 4/1882 sale.
