According to early editions of the Judd book, by brazing an electrotype shell of a Washington bust to a genuine 1793 half cent with the Liberty head ground off. The 3 in the date was slightly retooled to make it more rounded. Walter Breen & Russell Rulau said they were made by Edwin Bishop of New York City.

Examples are in the Smithsonian and Massachusetts Historical Society. Stacks also sold electrotypes of the Smithsonian example in their 10/94 and 5/08 sales.
