Although described as regular dies trial pieces, these were actually deliberately struck for sale to collectors as part of complete off-metal sets.

Copper J672. This is unlisted in Pollock. One was in Heritage 8/95 ANA sale lot 8259 as PCGS65BN, Simpson-Heritage 2/21 - PCGS66BN. PCGS also shows another grade PCGS64RB in their census.

Nickel J673/P749 with the following 3 confirmed.

1) Heritage 8/95 ANA as PCGS63 - PCGS64

2) Simpson-Heritage 8/21 - PCGS64 with a void or spot after the 2nd A in AMERICA

3) Paramount 10/69 - VF

Aluminum J674/P750 with about a half dozen believed to exist as noted below:

1) Lohr, Polis-B/M 6/91, B/M 5/92 as PCGS65 - PCGS66

2) Superior 1/90 as PCGS65 - PCGS66 appears to have roughness at the rim at the C in AMERICA

3) B/R 6/75, B/M 3/85 - PCGS64

4) Ivy 8/80 ANA, NERCA 1/81 FUN, J.E. Drew, Simpson-Heritage 11/20 - PCGS64, illustrated above, click on the thumbnail image to enlarge

5) Heritage 8/90 ANA - PCGS65

The NERCA 7/79 ANA and Lauder-Doyle Galleries 12/83 are believed to be included in the above census.

Silver-copper J674A/P751 which was supposedly struck from native Michigan ore. It is unique and is ex Johnson (Nov 1898), Hall, Brand (journal #49986:115), Boyd (per B.G. Johnson 7/16/41 invoice), Kagin 7/78, J.E. Drew, Simpson-Heritage 9/20 - PCGS61 and is illustrated below.
