This design shows a wide obverse rim. Pollock quotes Tom Delorey who noted that the obverse design is a regular 17.9mm 3 cent obverse set in a 1 cent size 19.1mm die blank, leaving wide borders whereas the reverse is normal 1 cent size.
Examples were struck as follows:
Nickel J615/P680 with around 100 sets believed struck.
Copper-nickel J615A/P681 with about a half dozen known. An example tested by Michael Bourne came back 87.07% copper, 12.75% nickel and .18% iron. To see all available images of this and the next, click here.
Copper J616/P682 with about a dozen known.
Aluminum J617/P683 which is unconfirmed. The Woodside lot 229, Newcomer coin appears to be a J617A, J620A/P686.
