Although these are described as regular die trial pieces in the standard references, it is more likely that the off-metal 'trials' of this year were deliberately struck for sale to collectors. We can only account for 2 different examples: 1) Bluestone (Salt City Coin) 1/36, Taylor-NN 61st 6/70 2) Bolt-Stacks 4/66, described as "Proof, not in full brilliance. A few scratches in field." Pollock lists one in Federal's January 63 sale which may be third or a reappearance of #2.
