Although described as a regular dies trial piece, this was more likely deliberately struck for sale to collectors.
In copper, over a dozen are known from 2 different obverse dies as shown below. The first, from Heritage 1/09 FUN / Lemus-Queller collection, has the date a bit more to the left than the second from Heritage 6/10 sale. To see all available images, click here.

Buyers should beware as counterfeits of this die trial are also known to exist.
The single example in aluminum J433/P506 ex Woodside, Woodin, Newcomer-Morgenthau 6/32, Lohr, Cox-Stacks 4/62 and was donated by R.E. Cox Jr. to the Smithsonian in 1963 and is imaged below courtesy of Tom Mulvaney and the National Numismatic Collection of the Smithsonian Institution.
