The 1857 quarter struck in copper with a reverse die without an eagle in the center. Dr. Judd describes it as the first work by Anthony C. Paquet. It is possibly a setup piece for his eagle design of the following year used on J221/P264. Its first occurrence was lot 772 in Edward Cogan's 10/18/1860 sale.
