This is one of 6 Washington nickel patterns produced in 1909, 2 of which, like the present example have Washington's portrait facing to the left. This used to be J1787 in earlier editions.
This one has the date with large 9s and a slightly larger portrait than on J1938/P2021. This used to be J1786 in earlier editions.
The reverse is new and was also used on a 1910 pattern J1942/P2023. This used to be J1788 in earlier editions.
Only 2 are known and both are in the Smithsonian.
