This is one of 6 Washington nickel patterns produced in 1909, 4 of which, like the present example have Washington's portrait facing to the right. This used to be J1783 in earlier editions. For additional information on these, click here.

This one is very similar to J1934/P2017 with 7 stars to the left and 6 stars to the right of the word Liberty but with a smaller date. This used to be J1782 in earlier editions.

The reverse is similar to one used in 1896 on J1770-J1772/P1986-P1989 but with the motto "E Pluribus Unum" added.

It is unique with the only example in the Smithsonian.
