Although described as a regular dies trial piece in the literature, it is more likely that this was deliberately struck for sale to collectors as part of complete off-metal sets.
Examples are only known in aluminum J1739/P1952 with only 2 believed to exist as noted below
1) Newcomer where described as bent in his inventory, unknown intermediates, Lauder-Doyle Galleries 12/83 where described as convex obverse.
2) Brenner-1914 ANS, Brand (journal #92500:1723A), unknown intermediaries, Simpson-Heritage 9/20 - PCGS65
