This is believed to be the first type II three cent silver piece with 2 outlines around the star on the obverse and having an olive branch above and a group of 3 arrows below the III on the reverse. It was originally listed as lot 2184 in W. Elliott Woodward sale of the Joseph J. Mickley collection where it was described as follows: "Three Cent Piece, 1853, coined April 10th; the first coinage of this denomination, of standard silver; none issued for some time after." It was purchased by Joseph N.T. Levick for only 25 cents and has not been seen since.
