Although these are described as regular die trial pieces in the standard references, it is more likely that the off-metal 'trials' of this year were deliberately struck for sale to collectors in complete sets.

2) Merkin privately, Harte-B/R 3/81 as proof 63 not gilt but with several reverse lint marks, B/M 1/85 now gilt, B/M 1/89, Simpson-Heritage 8/21 - PCGS63 gilt
