Although these are described as regular die trial pieces in the standard references, it is more likely that the off-metal 'trials' of this year were deliberately struck for sale to collectors.

Aluminum J1171/P1313 with only the following 2 confirmed:

1) Whitford 4/93, Superior 7/93 as NGC64, ANR 7/05, Goldberg 2/06 as PCGS64, Heritage 4/06 as PCGS64, Simpson-Heritage 8/21, Heritage 1/22 FUN - PCGS65, illustrated above, click on the thumbnail image to enlarge

2) PineTree 3/74, Paramount 4/77, B/M 9/84 - proof 65 with some rim flatness on the edge below the 87 in date

One of these is ex Bolt-Stacks 4/66.

Nickel J1172/P1314 which is believed to be unique as a pattern. That piece is ex Woodin-1914 ANS exhibit, Newcomer, Farouk, Pine Tree 3/74, Paramount 4/77 and is a gem proof albeit weakly struck. There is a second example, in AU condition with a rotationally double struck reverse, ex Heritage 8/2001 ANA, Rau-Heritage 4/18 that may be a mint error struck on a shield nickel planchet.
