The following shows the 3 reverse dies used with the 1854 Flying Eagle obverses. The first shows 2 leaves below the "E" in "States" and was used on J163-J164, J165A/P189. The second shows 3 leaves below the "E" in "States" and was used on J165B/P191. The third shows 4 leaves below the "E" in "States" and is an 1855 die that was supposedly also used on J165/P190. There is no rational reason why 3 reverses were necessary but here they are. Photos courtesy of PCGS.
