The reverse is shown by flipping head over date (normal coin turn). Notice that the two pellets on the reverse are level and the eagle is flying upwards. Alignment I is only confirmed for the original strikings in 1836 of J60/P65. Walter Breen and Robert Julian believe that this alignment exists for other Gobrecht dollars but this appears to be incorrect. Note: There exists some examples of J60 in this alignment where the left pellet is lower than the right but not to the extreme as on the die alignment III examples struck some 20 to 30 years later. This was caused by die rotation during the striking of these. This appears to be less well-known than the rotation which occurred with the alignment II examples which rotated into alignment IV on the 1837 strikings of J60.
