2 examples of this date are known with the so-called Roman finish, Trompeter's and one in the Harry W. Bass Jr. Research Foundation. It is possible that these were deliberately struck for a collector or as an experimental piece to test this type of finish which ultimately resulted in its use in 1909 and 1910.
