This is an example of an 1849 obverse and reverse open wreath gold dollar die trial described as struck on glazed board. It is one of at least 2 known. We have assigned it as P3100.
They were part of the Longacre materials purchased by the Library Company of Philadelphia from Maxwell Whiteman.
To your editor's knowledge, these have never before been published or seen by the collector fraternity.
