1835 Crushed Lettered Edge Half Dollar

The Pittman example of the 1835 Novodel. These are believed struck in 1836 as they used the Overton 106 reverse.

They may have been struck as a test for the new steam press and/or the use of a close collar. I believe them to be similar in nature to the 2 1827 quarters, Eliasberg's and James A. Stack's, overstruck on early quarter dollars using a close collar.
