This cent/quarter is not a mint product but is instead believed to have been struck from dies sold by the mint as scrap possibly by Joseph Mickley or Montroville Dickeson.

According to Ira & Larry Goldberg's 2/01 sale, this unique piece was struck from the Browning 5 1806 quarter obverse die and an uncertain reverse die using a classic head large cent as the host planchet. It earlier appeared in the Empire Topics #3 catalog and as since appeared in Superior's 6/02 sale.
