This is a fantasy muling incorporating the regular 1839 seated liberty obverse with the 1838 standing eagle reverse.

Only two specimens, struck with plain edges, are confirmed both originally from the Linderman collection and were likely struck in the 1870s for his personal cabinet.

They are mispedigreed in the Judd and Pollock books. The Woodside coin was purchased by Virgil Brand in March of 1895 and is not the same as the 1914 Gable sale.

The coin pictured, now in an NGC67 holder, eventually made it into the Pittman collection, the other PCGS63 is the former Harry W. Bass Jr. Research Foundation coin.
