The mint repeated testing the use of a uniformly designed minor set containing the one cent, 3 cent and 5 cent design struck in nickel.
One Cent J666/P742

Three Cent J676/P753

Five Cent J684/P763

The set of 3 pieces was sold by the mint to collectors for $9 per Ed Cogan's 1/1871 sale lot 304. Its earliest occurance was in Mason & Co's 10/1869 J. C. Randall sale.
Sets were also made in copper and are much rarer than their nickel counterparts.
